Learners require a KICD-approved Creative Arts Learner’s Book, drawing and painting materials, music instruments or improvised ones, modeling tools, fabrics, and locally available craft materials. Teachers are encouraged to use visual aids, digital content, and outdoor spaces to enhance artistic expression and creativity.
The Grade 6 Creative Arts curriculum by KICD integrates visual arts, music, and performing arts to nurture learners’ creativity, imagination, and appreciation of artistic expression. It encourages exploration of various art forms to communicate ideas, emotions, and cultural identity. Learners engage in activities such as drawing, singing, dancing, drama, and craftwork that develop their aesthetic sense and creative confidence.
By the end of Grade 6, learners should be able to create and present artistic works using different media, appreciate their own and others’ artwork, and apply acquired skills to express ideas and solve problems creatively. They should also demonstrate teamwork, discipline, and respect for cultural diversity through participation in creative and performing arts.
