To help learners learn and do well in CRE, the following are needed:
A learner’s book or workbook for CRE, and a simple Bible story‑book or teacher‑led stories about Bible characters and events.
A classroom where you can talk about your ideas, ask questions, listen to your teacher and friends, share thoughts about Christian values.
Activities like: listening to a Bible story, retelling it in your own words, role‑playing a simple scene, discussing how the story applies to your life (at home, school or in the community).
Everyday life links: you will reflect on how the stories and Christian values show up in your life—e.g., being kind, telling the truth, helping others.
Teacher guidance: your teacher will ask simple questions like “What did Jesus do in the story?”, “How can you show kindness today?”, “What does the Bible teach us about sharing?” and help you think about your own behaviour.
Opportunities for reflection and action: you might be asked to draw a picture about a Bible story, write one simple sentence about how you helped someone, or talk in class about a value you showed.
Respectful and friendly classroom discussions: in CRE, we share ideas, listen to each other, and learn to live with others in care and love.
CRE for Grade 2 is about helping you grow in understanding God’s love, learning Bible stories, and practicing Christian values in everyday life. You will learn simple truths about God, Jesus, the Bible, and the Christian way of living. Under the CBC system, CRE is not only about knowing facts but also about growing in behaviour, attitude and how you treat others. You will learn by listening, doing, discussing, and showing your faith in small ways — like being kind, honest, respectful and helpful. This learning area helps you become a caring, thoughtful person who lives out their beliefs and contributes well to the community.
By the end of Grade 2 in CRE, learners should be able to:
Recall and retell simple Bible stories (for example: the story of Noah, David and Goliath, Jesus blessing the children) in your own words and identify one lesson from each story.
Understand that God loves each person and that Christians respond by loving God and loving others.
Identify and practise simple Christian values such as kindness, honesty, respect, forgiveness and sharing in your home, school and community.
Recognise the church (or place of worship) as a community where Christians meet, worship, learn and serve.
Participate in class discussions, share ideas about Bible stories or Christian values, and listen respectfully to others.
Make simple choices guided by Christian teaching — for example, choosing to help someone, telling the truth, being friendly, resolving a small conflict kindly.
Connect what you learn in CRE with your life – noticing how a value or story applies to you, your family, school or neighbours.
