Christian Religious Education (CRE) in Grade 8 is designed to help learners grow spiritually, morally, and socially through the teachings of the Bible. It guides learners in understanding Christian beliefs and values, encourages positive character formation, and promotes responsible living in school, family, and community life. Learners explore real-life issues such as relationships, compassion, sexuality, sacredness of life, bullying, work, and leisure while reflecting on how the teachings of Christ should influence their behavior and choices.
By the end of the learning period, the learner should be able to:
1. Spiritual and Moral Growth
Explain the role of the Holy Spirit and demonstrate Christian virtues such as love, peace, kindness, self-control, and responsibility.
Show desire to live according to Christian values and participate in church and community activities.
2. Social Responsibility and Compassion
Identify individuals with diverse needs and demonstrate acts of compassion, care, and support in the community.
Promote positive relationships within the family and resolve conflicts peacefully.
3. Responsible Living and Protection of Life
Make informed and responsible decisions regarding sexuality, relationships, and personal conduct.
Uphold the sacredness of life, condemning harmful behaviors such as abortion, suicide, violence, and abuse.
4. Positive Behavior and Coexistence
Identify causes and effects of bullying and commit to peaceful coexistence at home, school, and community.
Appreciate personal talents, gifts, and abilities and apply them in income generation and service to others.
5. Responsible Use of Leisure
Use leisure time constructively and avoid activities that lead to negative behavior or moral decline.
